4. The sun can be extreme.

Travel Europe - EuroStar Opens Up Europe from London

With the opening of the new EuroStar Rail Terminal at London's St Pancras station (next door to Kings Cross), almost any capital in Europe is but a fast train journey from the centre of London. Whether you are a UK resident, or indeed from' across the pond' as the Brits lovingly refer the Americans, this indeed opens up all sorts of possibilities for the intrepid traveller or indeed the serious railway anorak!

But look at what has opened up for anyone living or vacationing in the UK. You can rocket to over 100 destinations across France, Belgium or the Netherlands. Speed from London at just under 200 miles an hour to enjoy the excitement of Disneyland Paris, and then arrive back in London in time for tea and bed!

Now I know you could have done it by plane prior to the new rail network opening, but at nearly 200 miles per hour and no having to get to the station with a least two hours for security clearance means that day trips and back to any of these 100 destinations can be done faster than by air! And even the cost is staggeringly low, when you think of the massive costs involved in building the fist be railway line in the UK for over 100 years.

For around £70 per person, you could set off from London in the morning, stay at a good hotel in Paris overnight, and return leisurely on your high speed ground chariot (no flying fears) the next day. That's less than it could cost to stay the night in London!

Look at this, You could catch the 14.34 from London, be in the resort at Disneyland Paris at 16.3. Spend that evening, and all nest morning at Disneyland Paris, and catch the high speed train back at 14.35 the next day. Your kids and grandkids will be totally 'gobsmacked!'

Several years ago, a small group of us spent the weekend in Paris, an absolutely wonderful experience. We took in many of the usual attractions, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Notre Dame, and the beautiful and so peaceful Sacre Coeur ... When we landed at Paris airport, we were taken by local train to the Gare du Nord railway station, to start our adventure into Paris. Interestingly, we had to carefully weigh our luggage for the weekend, had to get to Gatwick two hours before the fight departed, and on the way back, had to get to Charles de Gaulle airport from the Gare du Nord railway station, also allowing two hours prior to departure.

Last week we revisited out experience, but this time by EuroStar. No travelling to Gatwick and trying to park the car as cheaply as possible, or getting there far too early. We simply got on a local train at St Neots, which trundled down to Kings Cross, got off there, walked across to S Pancreas, tried a few champagnes at the biggest Champaign bar in Europe, we then sauntered to our awaiting EuroStar train, and settled down to a high speed train ride right up to the Gare du Nord station in Paris.

Now that's what I call progress...using good old nineteenth century railway concepts - beats flying into a cocked hat!

The Captain Cook Lookout is a must see, with unparalleled views up and down the coastline. You can reach it from First Point headland, and it is an easy walk with great rewards. Avoca Beach is one of those spots that have ample diversity in attractions, yet all is in close proximity to each other.

The Dublin Castle And Its Courtyards

The Dublin Castle is among the most important structures in Ireland. In 1210, it was built on the orders of the first Lord of Ireland, King John. Over the years, the Dublin Castle has evolved from a defensive fortress to an administrative center and a vice-regal court. It has suffered from several destructions, but the worst attack made against it was in 1534, when "Silken Thomas" Fitzgerald, a courtier who had relinquished his loyalty to the English Crown, led an uprising.

The Dublin Castle has faced many changes, not only physically, but also in terms of the governing powers that resided within it. The castle has stood for centuries and has been constantly repaired, refurbished, and kept in the state that it is at present. Unlike before, the use of the castle is now primarily for ceremonial purposes. Tourists are free to go around the courtyards, luxuriant state apartments, and museums within it.

The Castle is located in Dublin Center along Dame Street. It is comprised of several courtyards and buildings that originate from different times in the history of Ireland. The Dublin Castle is home to some of the oldest architectural styles in the country. Here are some of the main features of the castle that you should visit:

1. St. Patrick's Hall

A trip to the Dublin Castle would be pointless if you don't visit St. Patrick's Hall, which is one of the famous halls in Ireland. This hall, which is dedicated to the patron saint of the country, the paintings on its ceilings was done by Vincenzo Valdre that showcases different events in Irish and British history.

2. The Throne Room

The Throne Room also has its share of extraordinary artwork and architecture. It is the most majestic state apartment in the castle that used to serve as the chamber for Irish Monarchs. In it are four ornaments made by Gaetano Gandolfi that depict Mars, Juno, Jupiter, and Minerva.

3. The Chester Beatty Library and Gallery

In 1999, one of the finest collections of Oriental art in the world that is owned by Sir Alfred Chester Beatty was moved into its galleries.

4. State Drawing Room and State Dining Room

The State Drawing Room used to be the receiving room, but it is not used as an entertainment area for foreign dignitaries. The State Dining Room dates from the initial construction of the castle.

5. The Bedford Tower

This clock tower dates from the 18th century. Its base is the Norman gate of the castle. The Irish Crown Jewels - a diamond Badge and the St. Patrick Star - were stolen from this tower in 1907 and unfortunately were never recovered.

6. Garda Siochana Museum

This museum is located in the Record Tower, which is what only remains of the original castle. It showcases a detailed history of the Irish police force.

Heritage Travel - Provence, Where Cultural And Environmental Heritage Meet

Famous for its cuisine and its beaches, its olive trees and its lavender, the southern French region of Provence - Côte d'Azur also offers perhaps the most stunning and interesting opportunities for heritage tourism of any region in France. And not just natural heritage; with a civilization going back further than that of Paris and the center of modern France, it is also a region that boasts a rich cultural heritage, and one of the best collections of Roman remains outside Italy.

Many travellers might indeed be hard-pressed to find a downside to this magnificent region in the south of France; but a word of warning, Provence should not be thought of as a sort of Heaven on Earth; drivers stuck in a motorway traffic jam on a Saturday afternoon in mid summer might be forgiven for thinking that Provence is Hell on Earth. Overcrowded resorts and beaches, expensive facilities, high temperatures, traffic jams - all of these can be considered as the downside to holidays in Provence and the Riviera, specially in July and August. Yet for discerning travellers more interested in heritage tourism than beaches, the downside to Provence in the summer is of little concern.

Like California, the Provence - Riviera region is one which not only has beaches where people can be seen stretched out on the sand even in winter; it also has high Alpine peaks where the snow still lies, even in summer; and the two are less than 100 km. apart. Three of France's six National Parks are in Provence, and the region also boasts a variety of other regional nature parks or natural reserves, and a number of listed natural areas, from the famous Camargue, one of the major wetlands of Europe to the Queyras, a high mountain Alpine park.

As far as cultural heritage is concerned, the region, together with the neighbouring area around Nimes, offers a marvellous collection of Roman temples, Roman arenas and amphitheatres such as the one at Orange, - used every year for the famous opera festival - and the Pont du Gard, one of the best surviving Roman aqueducts. Slightly less ancient, but still very old, are the area's famous Romanesque churches, such as Saint Trophime at Arles, the Palace of the Popes at Avignon, and the many historic towns and villages, built in the local honey-coloured stone, with their narrow streets, traditional markets, and old houses.

With its beaches as well as the exceptional cultural and natural heritage of Provence , it is hardly surprising that this region is the most popular region in France for tourists and holidaymakers; it is a region that has it all!

In short, any time of the year. The climate in Provence is Mediterranean, hot in summer, milder than most of the rest of Europe at other times. Though be warned; don't expect summer in winter! Away from the coast, and more so in the mountains, winter weather can be cold, and snow, though rare in most low-lying areas, is an occasional possibility anywhere.

Northern Ireland Travel Update

Belfast's Merchant Hotel opened in 2006 in an Italianate- style bank that retains most of its heritage features, including sculptured figures and urns atop the building's façade. You can avoid having to climb the steep exterior staircase at the front by going to the side door, past the black iron, gold- embellished fence. Inside, the ornate High Victorian style of this listed property includes a restaurant encircled by a magnificent frieze adorned with fruit and foliage and plump cherubs sitting on Corinthian columns.

The Merchant has 21 rooms and five suites, all lavishly decorated with antiques, original art and custom-made furnishings. All have a desk, bureau, overstuffed chairs, flat-screen TV and CD/DVD player. Our only complaint was the insufficient lighting, which made it difficult just to see the contents of our suitcase, let alone attempt to read a book or newspaper. The spacious bathrooms have heated mirrors and towel bars. In some rooms, the bathroom is a step below the bedroom floor, a potential hazard in the middle of the night. The hotel has a billiard room, two bars, a nightclub, an adjacent pub and an art gallery. Guests have complimentary access to the Holiday Inn's leisure facilities. When Bill Clinton went to Belfast in 1995 to help push forward the peace talks, he stayed at the Europa. Known as the most bombed hotel in Europe (targeted nine times by the IRA), the four-star hotel is popular with journalists and visiting VIPs. Pillars in front distinguished the hotel from the neighboring Grand Opera House, and an impressive burning fireplace warms the lobby. The 235 rooms and five suites are spacious and decorated with good taste, although not with the degree of elegance found in the Merchant Hotel. Red was the dominant color in our room, with its burl-faced bureau, desk and end tables. All rooms have a trouser press, iron and ironing board, coffeemaker, flat-screen digital TV and CD player. The large bathrooms have a separate shower. The hotel has a business center, two restaurants and a piano bar. Wheelchair accessible. Doubles from about $240. Great Victoria Street. Deane's Restaurant & Bar, the first restaurant in Northern Ireland to receive a Michelin star, is surprisingly informal. Located a five-minute walk from the Europa, it`s one of four operated by Michael Deane. Our meal started with a very nice foie gras and chicken liver parfait with spice fig chutney and brioche. Pan-fried halibut with parsley and potato emulsion and smoked bacon accompanied by a peashoot salad was tasty but slightly too salty. Chocolate tart with Jersey ice cream had a wonderfully intense chocolate flavor. Dinner for two, before wine, about $140. 36-40 Howard Street. Tel: 44-289-033-1134. www.michaeldeane.co.uk.

On his visit to Londonderry (called Derry by the Catholics), the Dalai Lama stayed at the City Hotel, a short walk from the walls encircling the old city. The four-star hotel has 140 rooms and five suites. Ask for one overlooking the River Foyle. Our room had a fine view, but the décor was done by someone with no color sense--a rust carpet, two cream walls and one dark blue, two purple chairs, one black leather desk chair. The room was clean but the small bathroom had mold around the tub. There's a business center, a 49-ft. pool, gym, Jacuzzi, steam room and monsoon shower. There's little doubt why Slieve Donard Resort & Spa in Newcastle was voted the Best Hotel in Northern Ireland in a TV poll. The castle-like red-brick railroad hotel was built in 1898 to accommodate people coming for "sea water baths." A spa, opened in 2006, is catering to their descendants. There are 172 rooms and six suites, varying in size and shape. All have contemporary furnishings and amenities. Try for a front-facing room for views of the Irish Sea and the Mourne mountains. The spa has a steam room, sauna, gym and Zen studio offering yoga and tai chi. Lights at night turn the pool into a romantic grotto. There's also a pub, lounge bar, juice bar and elegant restaurant serving a full Irish breakfast. The golf course at nearby Royal County Down draws champions, including Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer, while adjacent to the course is an easier one, Annesley Links. How to do Wai. 1. Palm your hands.

In Thailand we called "Pra-nom-mue" or "An-cha-lee". Palm your hands and closed your finger tips, high your hands to your chest and keep your elbows closed to your body. Moreover, you should do "Pra-nom-mue" when you talk to Priests and Royal family. 2. Bow your head.

In Thailand we called "Wai" or "Wan-ta-na". Bow your head, and high you palmed hand slightly until your index finger touch your mouth or nose.

Tips

There are many kind of Wai, we must concern status and occasion of people we do Wai to. 1. Monks/ Priests or Royal family

Bow your head, and high you palmed hand until your thumbs touch your forehead. 2. Teacher or Parents

Do the same as (1.) but your index fingers touch your nose (somebody gets their index fingers touch their nose when they pay respect to parents and touch their mouth when pay respect to teacher). 3. Ordinary people

Do you know? When doing Wai don't do it just for politeness or Wai by courtesy. You should do Wai sincerely pay respect by your body and mind.

How to return Wai? If there is someone do Wai to you (pay respect to you) you should return Wai by Wai, do the same but do not bow your head just palm your hands.

In other words, there are too many places of wildlife habitat to see in Botswana.

Although Botswana is far from sea and has no coasts, tourism plays important role in its economy thanks to a number of national parks and game reserves with their abundant wildlife and wetlands. Botswana is dominated by the Kalahari Desert and The Okavango Delta which is the world's largest inland delta. Such an interesting geographical location makes Botswana a place where to experience wild life directly. Especially the months between April and November are the best time to visit because large number of animals migrate towards the waterways of the Okavango Delta.

Botswana is famous for its wild life and areas like The Chobe National Park, Moremi National Park in the Okavango Delta and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The Makgadikgadi Pans National Park is another best place to see there. The Makgadikgadi Pan is the largest salt flat complex in the world. Here is an extensive network of salt pans and ephemeral lakes.

Gaborone, which was chosen as the capital of Botswana due to its strategic location, presents visitors craft shops. The Main Mall, St. Claire Lion Park and Khala Hill are nice places to visit. St. Claire Lion Park as it is understood by its name, contains attractive lions inside. Moreover, here you can do variety of outdoor activities because of its location set in open woodland. There is a resident troop of baboons living on Kgale and black eagles and leopards that can be observed, if you climb to Kgale Hill. Gaborone Game Reserve is popular with bird watches. Furthermore, there you can see zebras, ostriches, wildebeests, impalas, elands etc. Gaborone houses the National Museum and Art Gallery in which a collection of traditional crafts and paintings by local and regional artists can be seen.

Protection of cape vultures in Manyelanong Game Reserve makes this place very essential. The vultures can usually be seen flying about the area and, when in season, the young birds are sitting on the rocks.

Mashatu Game Reserve is the largest private reserve in Southern Africa and for sure among the best places to be visited in Botswana. It has the largest elephant population on private land in the world. Gchwihaba (Drotsky's) Caves with its legend of treasure is one of the wildest tourst destinations. The Nhabe Museum outlines the natural history and culture of the Okavango region. Maun is called as the tourism capital of Botswana and a kind of gateway to the Okavango.

Botswana is completely an adventurous place for travelers. It serves you wild life with its reality. Education Reforms in Morocco

Morocco gained independence in 1956 and a year later the Royal Commission for Education Reform laid down the basic principals of post-independence Moroccan education. Developed during fifty years of colonial rule, the French educational model was adopted by the newly independent Moroccan state and reorganized to introduce a technical track in addition to a "modern" track and "original" track incorporated the traditions of Koranic-based education, emphasizing Islamic culture and civilization and using Arabic as the language of instruction.

The Ministry of National Education was established in 1959 to begin the task of training a native teaching corps to replace foreign teachers, build new schools and implement governmental education reforms.

Later Morocco faced a period of economic stagnation in the late 1990s due to extreme drought which placed a strain on its predominantly agricultural economy. Despite the economic difficulties during this period, Morocco achieved remarkable progress not only in building remarkable Morocco property, but also in developing its education system.

Enrolment in primary school increased from 52 percent to 92 percent, in the middle school level from 18 percent to 32 percent, and in secondary education from 6 percent to 15 percent during 1990-2004 years.

The formal education system in Morocco is however still facing many challenges today. Although education was becoming more accessible and the gender gap was being reduced, Morocco had not witnessed the positive changes seen in Asia and Latin America, particularly in literacy rates and enrolments in secondary schools and universities.

The World Bank has said the quality of education in Morocco is falling behind other regions and needs urgent reform if it is to tackle unemployment. Internal inefficiency is high, as evidenced by high drop-out and repetition rates. Gender and geographical disparities still exist at all education levels. Morocco also faces a rapidly increasing demand for middle schools, as a result of increased access to primary education. With government spending on education already high at 6.6 percent of GDP, opportunities to expand the budget are limited.

In order to help to solve the problem, the World Bank's Board of Directors approved a US$80 million loan to support a Basic Education Reform Support Program, also known as PARSEM, in the Kingdom of Morocco.

PARSEM addresses these challenges by supporting Government efforts to boost the quality of basic education for all children ages six to fourteen in a financially sustainable manner. The actions to be supported by PARSEM are threefold:

1. generalize access to basic education, to most school-age children by 2008;
2. improve the quality of education through reducing dropout and repetition rates and improving students learning;
3. build institutional capacity, reinforcing institutional capacity in association with the sector's decentralization process at the central, regional, provincial and local levels. The project falls in line with the Country Assistance Strategy (CAS) for Morocco which spells out education sector reform and decentralization as one of the key priorities for fighting poverty in the Kingdom.

World Bank together with Morocco government hope that PARSEM will increase access to basic education, improving educational quality, encourage stakeholder participation, ensure financial sustainability, and promote accountability in sector management.

Gap Year Travel

A gap year is defined as a 12 month period between school and higher education, which is usually spent working, travelling, or a combination of the two. A gap year will provide an opportunity for developing valuable skills, both socially and personally.

Deciding to take a gap year can be difficult. If you decide to travel, you may need to save up for a time first to finance the trip and arrange for money to be available while you're away. There are many ways to do this, but a credit card or international debit card are the most common. Also consider how you'll keep in contact with family and friends back home; most countries have internet cafes and phonecards so you can se these, or you may decide to take a laptop and use wireless internet points which are usually available in hostels and guesthouses.

One of the biggest considerations for any gap-year student is insurance. Each country you visit will have its own hazards, so it's essential you plan your trip carefully and know exactly which dangers you could encounter. Be aware that some insurers may not cover for certain countries so it's worth doing a quote first, to get an idea of countries you will be covered for. A policy covering personal belongings and medical expenses is the bare minimum you should take out; one which will reimburse you for cancelled flights or other modes of transport is also a good idea. If you plan on taking part in any sports on your trip, it's best to get personal accident cover added on too.

Most "gappers" travel alone, occasionally meeting up with pre-arranged travelling companions for parts of the journey. There are many websites dedicated to helping you find a companion, and it's always best if you can meet them beforehand, for safety's sake. When you are alone on your trip, observe some simple safety rules; don't walk around on your own after dark, be cautious at ATM machines, don't wear expensive jewellery - leave it at home if you can - and keep an eye on your drinks when visiting a bar.

It's good practice to carry copies of important documents such as visas, passports and medical records in a different place to the originals. Give copies to family and friends before you leave, and even email them to yourself. Carry contact numbers and addresses for the British Embassies in each country you visit. Research local customs before you go, to make sure you won't run into any unnecessary trouble with the locals.

When packing for a gap year trip the key word is 'light'. You'll be tempted to take along every little thing you think you may need, but in fact most things will be available for purchase along the way. A good rule of thumb is to take enough for the first month and stock up during that time. The most important things to pack are your passport and other documents, credit/debit cards or travellers cheques, change of clothes and suncream/insect repellent. Toiletries are available in handy travel-sized bottles so take a few of these with you, but refrain from taking razors and aerosols without checking with the airlines first. It may be easier to just buy some disposable razors in each country than trying to argue with an airline. If you're taking any electrical equipment with you it's a good idea to buy a worldwide travel adapter plug, which is lightweight and can be used in most countries.

Finally, before you go, see your doctor or pharmacist about vaccinations. Take a list of all the countries you plan to visit so they will be able to tell you if there are risks present, and how much treatment you'll need for the whole trip.

The best way to find cheap travel insurance for your Gap Year is to shop around online. While holiday insurance isn't mandatory, it's always wise to take out a policy. The one time you go on holiday without travel insurance could be the one time you need it.

Travel Information So Important You Can't Leave Home Without It

When you travel you not only step out of your comfort zone, but you also leave behind all of the important information about your life. You know, the stuff you'd need in case there were some kind of emergency--insurance numbers, the number to call if you lose your credit card, prescription information, etc.

We have all of this information available to us when we are home, but what would you do if your house sitter contacted you when you were halfway around the world to tell you that your house had caught fire? Could you contact your homeowner's insurance agent and provide all the information he'd need no matter where you are?

This checklist is designed to help you to compile all the information you should need while away from home so that you can carry it in a portable file. I hope it provides you some peace of mind.

The list includes the items you need and, in parentheses, an explanation about why it is important.

Documents to Place in Your Important Papers File & Why You May Need Them

Make a list with the following information on it:

• Homeowner's or Renter's Policy Number & Agent Contact Number (in case there is an emergency at your home so that you can notify your insurance company as soon as possible)
• The name, address, contact information, and reservation confirmation numbers for your hotel, rental car and airline tickets (in case you need to contact any of them for any reason or you need the confirmation numbers for any reason)
• The numbers of and contact information for any credit or debit cards you may use on your trip (in case they are lost or stolen)
• A copy of your Driver's License (and International Driver's License, if necessary-in case either of these documents are lost or stolen)
• Your frequent flyer number, your frequent guest number for hotel chains, and any other travel membership clubs' numbers (in case you need them to claim rewards or discounts)
• The numbers of your traveler's checks (in case the originals are lost or stolen)
• Names and contact information for friends and relatives you plan to visit while on your trip (so that it will be easier to contact them and also, in case of emergency, for someone else to be able to contact someone nearby)
• Medical insurance provider name, contact information and policy number (in case your card is lost or stolen)
• Name and contact information for your cell phone service provider & the serial number of the phone, your account number, and the SIM card number (in case your phone is lost or stolen or there is a problem with your phone and you are not able to get service)
• If you will be using a laptop or cell phone with wireless internet access, the name and contact information for your internet service provider, and the serial number of your laptop and any other accessories (in case your computer is lost or stolen and also in case you need assistance with your internet coverage)
• A copy of your itinerary (Each adult or older child should have a copy of this document in case you get separated from the others in your party. You should also leave a copy of your itinerary with someone at home in case you are lost or missing they can better work with the authorities to help them find you.)
• Information concerning any medical conditions you may have including allergy information (Include information like blood type, height, weight, birth date, etc. for each member of your party.)
• Names & contact information for your house sitter, pet sitter, etc. (in case of an emergency)

It could be disastrous if a list like this fell into the wrong hands, so for this reason, use some kind of code as you compile these account numbers.

One suggestion is to write the account numbers in a different sequence. For example, if your account number is 6389 7492 8852 4301 you could write it like this 2588 9836 1043 2947 or if it is 5529731 you could write it as 2551379.

Whatever code you use be sure to memorize it and make sure that anyone else in your traveling party knows how to use it also.

The secret is to have the information available to any one who may need it, but extremely difficult to use for any one who may try to steal it.

Another code to use is to leave the names and contact information in the right order or to further protect yourself and any one else whose contact information you may be carrying, mix up the order of the names and numbers. For example, you could put the info for the first item on the list in the second position, the info for the second item on the list in the third position, and the info for the third item on the list in the first position.

Then create a fake category, something like "Luggage Insurance Carrier" then list the account number as 122331 with the order of the numbers being the "pairs" of how you switched the information: 1,2=first in second position, 2,3=second in third position, 3,1=third in first position.

It may seem a little confusing and like it would be a lot of work to make your list in this way, but remember that the secret it to make the information hard to steal while still having it available just in case you need it.

These items are not sensitive information, but they would be valuable if you needed them:

Keep several various sized envelopes available to store these items safely.

• The name and contact information of your travel agent (if you used one)
• Any coupons or discount codes you plan to use
• The contact information for the Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Board for the areas you will be visiting
• Contact information for the embassy where you will be visiting
• A copy of your packing list with space to add any purchases you make while on your trip
• Emergency phone numbers for the areas where you will be traveling including poison control
• A phrase book for any foreign languages you may encounter
• Directions to any places or events you plan to visit
• A tipping chart
• A foreign currency exchange rate chart
• If traveling with pets, name & contact information for their veterinarian and also their immunizations history
• Names and addresses for anyone you plan to send a post card to
• A journal to keep track of your expenditures and also to keep a record of what you do each day
• A recent map of the city and surrounding areas where you are visiting
• Copies of any contracts you signed for vacation packages, travel insurances, etc.
• Copies of any prescriptions for medications, eye glasses or contact lenses (for each person in your party, if necessary)
• If traveling with children and only one parent, a notarized letter of consent from the other parent (a separate letter for each child, if necessary; this is good to have even for domestic travel)
• Immunization records (for each person in your party, if necessary; this is good to have even for domestic travel)
• The receipts for any merchandise you purchase while on your trip (in case you need to return them for any reason; also, if you are returning from a foreign country you will need these when you pass through customs)
• A list of all electronic equipment, including serial numbers, that you are traveling with and copies of receipts for them, if possible (in case they are lost or stolen you will have this information available for the authorities; also, if you are passing through customs you will be able to prove prior ownership and avoid paying duty fees on these items)
• The name and contact information for the hotel(s) where you will be staying (Each person in your party should carry a business card with this information on it in case they are lost or need to give directions to a cab driver.)
• A copy of your auto insurance information (in case you are involved in an automobile accident)
• Your luggage claim tickets (to enable you to claim your luggage)
• The number/aisle of the parking spot where you leave your vehicle in long-term parking at the airport (in case you can't remember where to find it when you return)
• Insurance claims forms (for all traveler's insurance that you purchased; these insurances often have a short claim period so you may need to file the claim before you return home)
• Birth Certificates (in case you need to prove identity or prove that a child is yours)
• Extra passport photos (this will save you a lot of time, trouble and expense if your passport is lost or stolen)

Items to carry on your person (You will need these actual documents):

• Your passport, visa, or any other necessary documents (adults should carry these for the children)
• Any travel visas or entry documents you need for the areas where you will be traveling (for each person in your party, if necessary)
• Medical insurance card & any other insurance cards
• A card with information on any medical conditions and the names and contact information of any other adults in your party or that you may be visiting

Special note about children:

• Children should carry an identification card stating their full name, your name and the names of any other adults in your party, the phone numbers and addresses where you can be reached, and emergency contact numbers back home.
• This card should also include any other important information such as medical conditions, insurance information, and health care provider's name and contact information.
• Place the ID card inside the child's shirt in a pocket that you have sewn in beforehand.
• This will require a little bit of work and preparation, but if it is ever needed it will be worth it.
• Your child probably already knows about "stranger danger," but right before a trip is a good time to review this information and to teach them not to show this card to anyone unless they are lost.

Gather all these lists and documents and put then in an accordion style file folder with an elastic band to hold it shut. If you leave your hotel room, place this folder in your room safe and make sure that every one who would need this information knows the combination and knows how to operate the safe.

Hopefully you will never need any of this information for an emergency, but this Important Papers File will be there if you do.
